Preview of new features launching tomorrow

As you know, we've got some great new features headed your way tomorrow morning. I've got some more details to share on what is coming. To catch up on everything we've posted before, check out this post and this post.

WYSIWYG Improvements

The most significant items in this release are the WYSIWYG editor improvements. These include a streamlined toolbar, a new "page link" functionality, and a bunch of other enhancements. To give you more details and a visual preview of these great new features, we put together the video below.

Custom domain through the Signup element

In addition to the editor improvements, we've got another bonus for you as the LightCMS account holder. We're adding a new feature to our Signup element to allow you to specify a custom domain to be used for client websites created through your Signup element. So, in addition to clientsite.publishpath.com, you can use clientsite.yourdomain.com as well.

Launching tomorrow morning

Our rollout of these new improvements is scheduled for Wednesday morning, March 3rd, 2010. We don't anticipate any downtime with this deployment.

However, I really dislike giving anyone bad news but I figured this may come up later from other clients. I have been working in the CMS for about 1.5 hours now using the Photo area of the WYSIWYG and the new photo slider feature is much more complex that the old version. It's slower and when I use the Photo Editor and make a new thumb, the photo folder refreshes and takes me all the way back to the beginning. It just so happened, I am doing work for a client today that has 17 different bays for the slider. I would consider moving back to the old Photo holder for the WYSIWYG - its faster.

Other than that guys, I want to say job well done. Thanks so much.

David, no problem at all on the constructive feedback, however, I am not sure that I understand the issue you are describing. To me, the Image Editor inside the WYSIWYG appears to work very similarly to the previous version. And when I create a new thumbnail it saves directly to the folder I was previously in.

Maybe I am misunderstanding. I am going to email you to discuss further so I can be sure to understand.
